Object name Sampler
Description Sampler with Hebrew letters. Embroidered linen with gold, blue, red, green, and black cotton thread.

Top half of sampler has rows of the alphabet and numbers in both English and Hebrew. First row: numbers in English and Hebrew. Second row: lower case English alphabet letters. Third row: upper case English alphabet letters. Fourth row: Hebrew alphabet letters in lower case. Fifth row: Hebrew alphabet letters in upper case. Bottom half contains embroidered images such as flowers, dogs, cats, baskets, birds, trees, a well, and a seated figure operating a spindle. At the bottom left is a rectangular border in gold thread with "1813" and maker's initials in Hebrew letters,"S.G.M." At bottom center are Hebrew letters for "SGM" in yellow thread.
